Review- Using Medicus Golf Clubs and Training Aids to Cut Golf Scores First of all, there is no magic pill for golfers such that they will wake up the next morning and improve their games by 10 strokes. Anyone who leads you to believe this is possible by just listening to a couple of CD’s is just trying to take your money. You are going to have to work at it, and not just that, but you need to work intelligently at it. A lot of the 10 stroke improvement needs to come from putting. It is likely that a golfer who averages 100 strokes per round will normally have anywhere from 36-40 or more putts in each round. The putter is typically the club that is used for the most strokes by golfers, and in this case almost 40% of the golfer’s strokes are putts. You need to accomplish two things to cut down your number of putts: improve alignment and distance control. We have discussed two drills to help do this. Practice them first with the Medicus putter trainer and then without it, just using your regular putter. The Medicus putter trainer will help you swing the putter properly with your large shoulder muscles, so you should develop a decent putting stroke. You need to practice the short putt accuracy drill (click here for details- Medicus Putter) on a regular basis and get to the point you can make a number of 6 foot putts and under. Put a line on your ball like the pros do, line up your feet to that line on the ball, and have your putter stroke be parallel to your feet. In that way you are set up with your chosen alignment, and you should be concentrating on how hard to hit the putt. Remember- the ideal distance to hit any putt is 17 inches past the hole. If you are 40 feet or more away from the hole, forget about the 17 inch rule. Just try to die the ball at the hole realizing that you will not make many 40 foot putts. PGA pros don’t make many of them either, so you’ll probably make only 1 or 2 per cent. The goal for long putts is just to have a short tap-in for your second putt. Most importantly you need to develop good distance control. The way to do this is to play the Safety Drawback game described in Article 3 (click here- Medicus-Putter-Training-Aid). This game is fun and will help you develop good distance control. If you work at these two practice drills you should see a big improvement in your putting. The Medicus Driver You’ll get the next largest improvement in your scores by working with the Medicus Driver. The details are in this article (click here- Medicus-Driver-Trainer). You can also learn to hit the ball farther using the Medicus Power Max. This over weighted training driver will help develop your golf specific muscles and make your regular driver feel lighter. Don’t try to swing your regular driver too hard. In fact you should deliberately try to swing it at only about 70% full force, and remember to make a good follow through. In that way you will hit the ball more solidly more often. Working with these Medicus golf clubs should help you chop 2-3 more strokes off your average score.
