Remember, after the putter, the driver is the most used club in the bag, normally used about 14 times per round.  And one last thing- use a modern large head driver.  These clubs have very high MOI (moment of inertia) and they also have titanium club faces which produce a trampoline effect that adds distance.

If you have the money to spend, you can also pick up some other Medicus golf training clubs, including a Medicus 5 iron, 7 iron
and/or L wedge.  These clubs will help you improve your iron game.  Practice chipping as well with the Medicus 7 iron and L Wedge as well as other clubs in your bag.  Better chipping and putting will certainly cut strokes off your game.

Other Roads to Improvement

The most obvious thing here is lessons from a teaching pro.  A good teaching pro knows the game and the mistakes most average golfers make.  He or she can tell you what you are doing wrong and help you to make corrections.  If you try to make adjustments on your own, you probably won’t know what you are doing wrong nor how to fix it.  Of course lessons from a pro cost money, so that will be a factor.

I happened upon another option recently.  I saw a store front in a shopping center called golftec.  I went in and was greeted by a young golf pro who showed me their practice area inside and all the technical equipment they use to analyze a golfer’s swing.  They measure common things like club head speed, of course, but they go much further.  They measure how far back a player takes his club, as well as a number of different measurements for the shoulders and hips.  Of course a video recording is made of the golfer hitting balls for future reference.  A golfer’s swing can even be compared to that of a well known pro side by side to note the differences.  There is no right and wrong for each measurement.  However, golftec has developed a range for each measurement based on the measurements of many PGA Tour pros.  The idea is that if the golfer is within this range, he is probably OK, but if he or she is out of the range entirely, something is wrong and corrections are suggested.  This is an interesting concept, and you can check out a golftec Improvement Center near you.

To wrap it all up, it will take a lot of practice to cut 10 strokes from your golf score.  But practicing golf can be almost as much fun as playing on the course.  You’ll have to spend a bit of money as well to get the Medicus training aids and perhaps golf lessons.  You might think about purchasing a Medicus golf training clubs with a friend and sharing the clubs to cut down on your expenditure.  But in any case if you follow the guidelines in this series of articles you can make substantial improvement in your scores.
